Yalla shows Yale’s shuttles live: every bus on the map, when the next one reaches your stop, and when to leave to catch it.
Common questions
-
Why is a bus grayed out?
Yalla grays out anything it can’t vouch for as live. On the map, a faded bus has gone a couple of minutes without a GPS update, or has pulled off its usual route. In arrival times, gray means the bus is waiting out a layover at the end of its loop, or its GPS has gone quiet, so the time isn’t counting down. It turns live again as soon as the bus moves or checks back in.
-
Why am I not getting alerts?
Check that notifications are on in Settings › Apps › Yalla › Notifications. Yalla shows a Settings link right on the card when they’re off.
The “time to leave” alert is based on your walk to the stop, so it also needs Location. Without it, you still get the Lock Screen countdown. And if it’s already time to go when you follow a bus, Yalla tells you on the spot instead of sending an alert.
-
Are the times official?
They come straight from Yale’s live shuttle feed. They’re predictions, so traffic and layovers can move them. Yalla is an independent app and isn’t affiliated with Yale University.
-
How do I add the widget?
Star a stop in Yalla first. Then touch and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Yalla. The Next Shuttle widget shows the next buses at your first starred stop, and it comes in a Lock Screen size too. It keeps counting down on its own; if it says “Open Yalla to refresh,” just open the app.

How do I follow a bus on my Lock Screen?
Open a stop and tap Follow on Lock Screen below its arrival times. The bus counts down live on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and Yalla tells you when to leave. Tap End to stop. If nothing shows up, turn on Live Activities in Settings › Apps › Yalla.
